The video installation «spot!» was part of my diploma work at the Department of Art & Media at Zurich University of the Arts – ZHdK. It deals with the question on what defines an artwork as art. Is it the artists signature on piece? Is it the fact that an artwork is shown in a gallery or museum?
«spot!» uses the context of an art exhibition to integrate the spectator himself into a piece of art. It uses the audience as found footage and puts it into the spotlight by recording and reprojecting the spectator into the room.
